The   Instructor   Development   Course   (IDC)   is   made   up   of two   parts   –   the   Assistant   Instructor   (AI)   course   and   the   Open Water      Scuba      Instructor      (OWSI)      program.      Successfully completing    just    the    AI    course    results    in    a    PADI    Assistant Instructor   qualification.   When   an   AI   is   ready   to   progress   he can   attend   an   OWSI   program.   This   course   will   further   expand your   knowledge,   developing   skills   in   the   classroom,   confined water   and   open   water   and   allows   entry   into   an   IE   to   earn   a full   PADI   Instructor   rating.   Most   dive   professionals   complete the   entire   IDC   and   go   on   to   attend   an   Instructor   Examination (IE),    which    is    the    final    step    to    earn    a    PADI    Instructor certification. The   OWSI   (Open   Water   Scuba   Instructor)   program   takes   5 days.   But   if   you   combine   the   two   parts   together   it   will   take you 7 days. Course Prerequisites • PADI    Assistant    Instructor    or    qualifying    instructor    certification from another training organization • Be     a     EFR     instructor     or     first     aid     instructor     from     another organization ( will be taught besides the IDC) • Been a certified diver for at least 6 months • PADI   diver’s   medical   signed   by   a   physician   within   the   last   12 months • Minimum 60 logged dives to enroll on the OWSI • Minimum 100 logged dives to enroll on to the IE • EFR    Primary    and    Secondary    Care    (or    equivalent)    within    24 months • Proof of experience in night, deep and navigation diving • Pre-study course manuals and fill in review sections • Have good personal diving and buoyancy skills • Be able to snorkel 800 meters Minimum age • 18 years

Crossover: Dive   professionals   who   hold   an   instructor   rating   with   another diver   training   organization   may   be   eligible   to   enroll   directly   in the   OWSI   program.   This   recognizes   prior   instructor   training and provides a path to become a PADI Instructor.
